About the role

Software Engineer role focusing on Google Compute Engine (GCE) Control Plane within Google Cloud, supporting development, testing, deployment, and release processes for high-quality software used by 300+ engineers across multiple teams. Early Careers/PhD track with specific minimum and preferred qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage API test coverage gaps discovery and test auto generation for complex compute workloads.
  • Create and run virtual machines on Google infrastructure.
  • Develop tools, frameworks, and release processes that empower Control Plane developers to efficiently release software to meet ongoing demand for new Compute feature for Google Cloud customers.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • Experience working with data structures or algorithms during coursework/projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school or work (e.g., open-source coding).
