About the role

Software Development Engineer responsible for defining, building and supporting the system design, architecture, and software for Ring IoT products; collaborates with business and cross-functional teams across organizations to gather requirements and implement features across the end-to-end SDLC.

Responsibilities

  • Dive deep and work to solve critical design issues involving algorithm, hardware/firmware interfaces, IoT interfaces, etc
  • Participate in design reviews for complex embedded systems, simulations, algorithms and software development owned by your team and partner teams
  • Influence within your team and partner teams to drive and develop the technical implementation for overall system designs
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve team agility (design, automation, development, test or operations)
  • Define and/or refine system requirements, participate in development and delivery of Interoperability-related features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and other self-healing automation
  • Develop embedded software in C/C++
  • Work closely with vendors, engineers, and product teams; write documents, run experiments, demonstrate proofs-of-concept, build prototypes, and ship sophisticated systems

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 2+ years of experience with: networking concepts, WiFi, VLAN, LTE, APN, AT modem commands, interfaces, routers, network packets, Unix sockets API
