About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure. This role focuses on the design of physical security systems for data centers, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and design consultants to ensure safety and security across DC projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects
  • Using Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to work in collaboration with the design teams to produce designs in Revit (ACC)/CAD
  • Coordinating security requirements with all the other disciplines during the design process of a new building / campus (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT)
  • Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert of all designs, supervise and approve all design deliverables developed by the 3rd party and in-house design services teams at each design milestones of a project
  • Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs and facilitate design discussions
  • Participate in maintenance Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements
  • Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously
  • Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.

Qualifications

  • - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • - Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • - Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
  • - Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
  • - Experience in commissioning
