About the role

Senior Software Engineer at Illumio specializing in building containerized (micro) services for a distributed multi-tenant system, primarily using Go, Kubernetes, and data pipelines to provide real-time insights and security recommendations across multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop containerized (micro) services for a distributed multi-tenant system that processes data and real-time events and network telemetry from multiple public clouds to provide real-time insights, visibility, and security recommendations to customers so they can identify and minimize risk in the cloud.
  • Design your service, work out all details, defend the design/architecture before peers, and deliver a rock-solid implementation.
  • Mentor junior engineers, new-grads, and interns to help them grow as engineers and become productive team members.
  • Primarily write code in Go and work with data pipelines using SQL or other interfaces; leverage Kubernetes for service infrastructure.
  • Own critical features and subsystems and the entire software development lifecycle from requirements clarification to deployment and usage by customers.
  • Own operational aspects of the system to gain firsthand experience and write better, more maintainable software.
  • Own code quality through early testing and functional/integration testing to ensure robust products.
  • Partner with Product Management to review and refine requirements that meet customer expectations.
  • Develop deep understanding of customer problems through stakeholder interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent degree; Master’s degree a plus
  • 4+ years building distributed & scalable software and systems
  • Passion for software development, willingness to continuously learn, and ability to work in a team setting
  • AWS / Azure / GCP cloud experience with API/programming-level usage
  • Experience with networking and security controls a plus
  • Platform is Kubernetes-based; experience delivering containerized services desired
  • Go and SQL experience; REST API client experience
  • CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible are nice to have
  • General TCP/IP networking knowledge
  • Unix/Linux programming environment experience
