About the role
Hands-on Machine Learning Lead engineer at Bellwether within X, the Moonshot Factory. Guides machine learning for real-world products, with focus on production systems, cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform), and end-to-end ML-Ops in an agile, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Guide machine learning for Bellwether’s real-world products and contribute to all aspects of development and deployment of applications.
- Architect and design production systems and features balancing business needs and technology roadmap.
- Create and maintain Google Cloud Platform-based infrastructure for software development and high-volume production systems.
- Help drive and execute key decisions on software architecture and features, balancing longevity with rapid prototyping.
- Contribute to the creation of new systems and processes to ensure high quality development, deployment, and maintenance of live applications in production environments.
- Present findings to team members and stakeholders and help set direction for future development.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience
- 7 years experience with the machine learning development pipeline: research, experimentation, and ML-Ops
- Experience in engineering management or as a technical lead with hands-on mentoring
- Expertise in ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras/JAX) and Python libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)
- Experience with common software design patterns (e.g., Observer, Decorator, Visitor, Producer/Consumer)
- Experience with open source tools such as Git, TensorFlow, Apache Beam/Dataflow, Google Compute Engine
- Python proficiency
- Experience working on an early stage project evolving to production
- Ability to thrive in an Agile-driven team and interface with customers
