About the role

Design Engineer focused on applying AI to practical problems across product, internal tools, and experimental work within Rillet’s AI-native financial software.

Responsibilities

  • Build product features, internal tools, and prototypes that apply AI to practical problems. Work could include finding relevant financial records, automating a repetitive task, or helping someone review an agent's proposed actions.
  • Get close to the people using what you build. Understand the task, identify friction, and test whether your idea makes their work easier.
  • Try new models, tools, and ways of building. Bring back working examples and a clear view of where they could be useful at Rillet.
  • Make AI features clear and usable. Design interactions that help people understand an answer, inspect its sources, and stay in control of what happens next.
  • Work with experienced engineers and accounting experts to test behavior, catch failures, and turn promising work into reliable software. Follow through after release and improve it based on use and feedback.

Qualifications

  • You're creative in how you solve problems.
  • You have taste and can explain your choices.
  • You're already building with AI. Show an app, agent, automation, or experiment you made, why you built it, and what surprised you.
  • You have solid coding fundamentals. You can get a working application off the ground, connect it to an API, and investigate why something broke.
  • You notice what makes a product good. You can point to an interaction you made clearer or easier to use and explain the choices behind it.
  • You take initiative and keep learning.
  • You respond well to feedback.
