About the role
Mechanical Engineer role focused on integrating mechanical design knowledge with AI-driven manufacturing constraints and data to train and improve Xometry’s proprietary AI engine, bridging traditional engineering with software automation within partner ecosystems (NX, Designcenter, Teamcenter). Hybrid schedule at Waltham, MA or North Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities
- Geometric Feature Analysis: Analyze native 3D CAD models to identify complex geometric topologies, specific features, and GD&T annotations to verify AI engine interpretation.
- Integration Support: Test and validate real-time manufacturability (DFM) and pricing feedback loops within Siemens NX and Teamcenter workflows.
- Engineering Ground-Truth: Partner with Data Scientists and ML engineers to provide ground-truth engineering logic for training generative AI models.
- Multimodal Data Processing: Create, review, and structure-label datasets from 2D drawings, PDFs, and purchase orders for AI learning.
- Manufacturing Logic Mapping: Document and map standardized manufacturing constraints into discrete rules for software consumption.
- Continuous Testing: Conduct regression testing on AI-generated pricing and lead times against real-world metrics.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as technical point of contact across internal engineering, operations, and external partner tracks to meet integration milestones.
Qualifications
- 2-5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or related industrial environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Skills
Required:3D CAD interpretationGD&T (ASME Y14.5)
