About the role

Junior RTW Designer at Mulberry to develop the women’s ready-to-wear collection through research, design and development, aligned with Mulberry’s aesthetic and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Research: Conduct research to support the team and identify new and progressive designs; use library and market research; identify items for reference on research trips; assist in preparing design presentations, mood boards, and seasonal inspiration materials.
  • Design: Develop new RTW designs; collaborate with senior Design team; experiment with ideas, techniques, materials to push creativity; develop 3‑D design ideas; maintain Mulberry aesthetic while pushing luxury and innovation; collaborate on colour palettes, fabric selections, prints, and garment details; integrate sustainable design principles throughout the process.
  • Prototypes and Samples: Coordinate with suppliers to ensure prototypes arrive for fit meetings/proto reviews; liaise with suppliers to secure timely designs; participate in fit sessions and implement revisions; ensure salesman samples are ready by deadlines.
  • Specs: Ensure product specs are accurate for target costings and production handover; produce accurate sketches and CADs; record modifications after fits for production.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree supported by a strong portfolio.
  • Experience in a similar position within the fashion industry.
  • Wide knowledge of ready to wear categories.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of sustainable design practices.
  • Experienced in producing and maintaining CADs.
  • Experience of working in a busy design studio organizing and prioritising a demanding workload.
  • Experience of designing, planning and developing a collection.
  • Enthusiastic and Passionate about Fashion.
  • Reliable and Practical.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team and on an individual basis.
