About the role

Security Engineer II in Amazon HealthSec Security Operations to protect healthcare data, drive incident response, threat detection, and security improvements across AWS healthcare services. Partners with Detection & Monitoring, engineers, executives, and product teams to secure customer data and implement security controls.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate vulnerability reports, security alerts, and customer issues
  • Work alongside our Detection and Monitoring team to triage, understand, and improve security alerts
  • Perform risk assessments and identify security vulnerabilities in workflows
  • Advise engineering teams and stakeholders on security best practices including network security, identity management, and secure system configurations
  • Collaborate with product development teams to integrate security solutions and controls
  • Support security incident investigations related to infrastructure
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide ad hoc support to customers during non-business hours
  • Drive security automation efforts including monitoring, triage, and alerting for key security risks

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object oriented language experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
  • Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent
