About the role

Software Engineer role focused on designing and building internal platform, tooling, and automation to enable Render engineers to move quickly and safely. Improve local development, CI/CD pipelines, test infrastructure, and metrics to measure and improve shipping velocity.

Responsibilities

  • Improve speed and reliability of early change feedback (build and dependency tooling, caching, incremental builds, monorepo ergonomics; accelerate CI/CD; fast and trustworthy test suites)
  • Design and build tools to support concurrent agent execution (provide fast test feedback inside an agent loop; give agents appropriate context)
  • Simplify and establish repeatable patterns (reduce toil through automation; instrument signals and drive actions)
  • Build and participate in an on-call rotation for critical systems

Qualifications

  • Experience building and operating developer-facing tooling, CI/CD systems, or internal platforms used by engineers
  • Experience driving cultural and process changes to improve engineering effectiveness
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals; track record of shipping, maintaining, debugging production systems
  • Proficiency in Go (or strong willingness to ramp quickly)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
  • Bias toward measurement: instrument and use data to verify impact
  • Empathy for engineers and ability to fix developer pain points in a sustainable way
