About the role

First business operations leadership hire at E2B responsible for non-engineering, non-GTM, non-design functions, including legal admin, people ops, office logistics, vendor management, and internal tools. Role starts hands-on for 6–12 months with potential COO-track evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Build the operating cadence (weekly leadership rituals, monthly board prep, quarterly planning).
  • Run people ops end-to-end (offers, onboarding, payroll across US and EU, benefits administration, equity grants, performance reviews, offboarding).
  • Partner with Talent on recruiting ops (offers, references, background checks, work authorization).
  • Own legal admin (customer contracts, vendor agreements, NDAs, contractor MSAs for EU hires; manage redlines, outside counsel, contract tracker).
  • Run office and team logistics (two offices, two countries, two payroll regimes, team offsites, equipment provisioning, real estate decisions).
  • Own vendor and tool sprawl (SaaS renewals, procurement, security review, cost optimization).
  • Set up the bench (define and hire replacements: HR/people lead, finance hire, head of legal) and run searches.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in operations, with 2–3 years at a Series A/B startup scaling headcount from 30 to 100.
  • Generalist DNA; comfortable across finance, legal, and HR tasks.
  • Strong numerical skills; able to read P&L, model headcount and burn.
  • Proven ownership: built/rebuilt payroll, offers/equity process, contracts pipeline, close cycle, board reporting cadence, or vendor management process.
  • Operates at the speed of engineering and can work in-person in San Francisco.
