About the role

Base Labs Fellowship offering 3 months of full-time research in San Francisco with 1:1 mentorship, funded stipend, compute support, and potential path to full-time, targeting researchers in ML/AI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rigorous, published research that shapes open-source ecosystem and Baseten's technical roadmap.
  • Engage in 1:1 mentorship with a senior researcher.
  • Produce research outputs for publication and presentation at venues like ICML, NeurIPS, and Grace Hopper.
  • Contribute to decisions about Baseten's workloads and product direction.
  • Publish and present research findings.
  • Collaborate within Base Labs to build a research culture and project agenda.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a PhD in ML, AI, statistics, or a closely related field
  • Publication record or research portfolio demonstrating original, rigorous thinking
  • Autonomy and ability to operate without a predefined roadmap
  • Willingness to be in San Francisco for the duration of the program
  • Interest in building a research culture, not just participating in one
