About the role

Software Engineer II focused on backend systems and data pipelines to support consumer credit reporting for Affirm’s Furnishing Platform. Remote Spain. Collaborates with Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to design robust reporting systems for accurate and timely data delivery to Consumer Reporting Agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Break down larger projects into tasks, deliver in multiple phases, and collaborate to ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with product management, design & analytics to ideate, articulate constraints, and decision-making considering risks and trade-offs.
  • Create and monitor metrics, support on-call efforts, and ensure availability of team artifacts.
  • Contribute to team community and growth activities, including interview participation.
  • On-Call Rotation requirement.

Qualifications

  • 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems; proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Spark.
  • Ability to solve simple business problems by building multi-component solutions with clear, well-tested, extensible code.
  • Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging others' code, and providing feedback via code reviews.
  • Demonstrated ownership of growth and proactive feedback-seeking behavior.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
