About the role

Staff Software Developer to lead the core developer infrastructure (build, CI, remote development environments) at Robinhood, driving strategy, architecture, and execution to improve engineering productivity and reduce developer friction.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the long-term technical strategy and roadmap for core developer infrastructure, including CI, SCM, and development environments.
  • Build and maintain robust, scalable infrastructure capable of handling increasing operational loads with emphasis on speed, safety, and reliability.
  • Lead the strategy for developer onboarding and development environments to reduce time-to-first-commit and boost productivity.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to standardize build and CI patterns, eliminate developer friction, and uphold high engineering standards.
  • Provide technical mentorship, conduct design reviews, and establish best-practice operational guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience designing, scaling, and operating critical developer infrastructure or high-volume build/CI systems in production environments.
  • Deep expertise in modern build systems (e.g., Bazel) and distributed/remote build execution, with strong CI/CD understanding at scale.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Go or Python with a track record of building reliable, maintainable system software.
  • Proven ability to guide complex technical initiatives from conception to completion aligned with company objectives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to advocate for tooling adoption, drive onboarding improvements, and mentor engineers.
