About the role

Notion is hiring an IC4 Software Engineer on the Infrastructure Security team to own end-to-end infrastructure security problems, from risk identification to pragmatic controls and secure defaults that scale across engineering. The role can be based in San Francisco or New York City and requires in-person collaboration on anchor days (Mon/Tue/Thu).

Responsibilities

  • Proactively enhance the security posture of our AWS accounts and cloud infrastructure.
  • Create secure frameworks for secrets management and authentication/authorization.
  • Design and deploy robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
  • Provide guidance and education on security and privacy best practices to cross-functional partners.
  • Participate in (and help drive) mitigation strategies during security-related incident response.

Qualifications

  • Security architecture and expertise: experience securing cloud architectures, including secrets management and IAM solutions.
  • Backend/infrastructure development: production-grade code contribution and secure systems design.
  • Working in production: ability to debug and improve components with minimal disruption.
  • Pragmatic, risk-based prioritization: threat modeling, balancing trade-offs, focusing on high-impact security investments.
  • Empathetic communication: clear writing and real-time communication; collaborative problem-solving.
