About the role

Compensation Lead to architect and run compensation programs, frameworks, and analytics to support Peregrine’s growth, including compensation strategy, job architecture and leveling, equity programs, and analytics; collaborates with Talent Acquisition, People, Finance, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Scale the philosophy and framework: define a compensation philosophy, market data frameworks, and guidelines for hiring, promotions, and merit decisions.
  • Build the job architecture: design a company-wide job catalog, job families, career tracks, and leveling criteria; establish compensation bands.
  • Own the compensation cycles: manage merit and compensation review end-to-end, including planning, modeling, guidelines, approvals, communications, and post-cycle analysis; design promotion and retention processes.
  • Enable recruiters and managers: create self-serve tools and guidelines for offers, establish escalation process for exceptions.
  • Drive analytics and controls: develop compensation metrics and reporting; manage survey participation and benchmarking; conduct pay equity analyses.
  • Evolve equity programs: build frameworks for equity grants for new hires and promotions; communicate equity as part of total comp.
  • Support executive- and board-level compensation: provide market-informed analyses for leadership and board discussions.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in compensation with direct ownership of compensation strategy, job architecture, and program design.
  • Experience building compensation infrastructure through significant headcount growth, ideally in technology or high-growth environments.
  • Deep expertise in equity compensation, market benchmarking, and job leveling.
  • Strong command of HR and compensation systems and data.
  • Located in San Francisco and able to work in the office 4 days/week.
