About the role

Role focused on developing and deploying a trapped-ion quantum control stack, from ion loading and cooling to qubit control, calibration automation, system performance, and platform integration for Conductor Quantum.

Responsibilities

  • Ion loading and cooling: Develop routines to form a cold ion chain, improve loading reliability, Doppler and sideband cooling, and chain lifetime; reduce time to readiness.
  • Qubit control and characterization: Push single-qubit and Mølmer-Sørensen two-qubit gates to required fidelity; calibrate and benchmark; manage shuttling fidelity and electrode waveforms.
  • Calibration automation: Encode tuning into software so calibration can run autonomously with minimal physicist intervention.
  • System performance and control stack: Develop stability, online operation, diagnose micromotion and mode drift, write/adapt control software for hardware like AOMs, AWGs, DDSs, FPGAs, and multichannel DC sources; build drivers and abstractions for scalable control stacks.
  • Collaboration and system integration: Work with physicists, ML engineers, and backend developers to integrate hardware, software, and data pipelines into a unified quantum control stack; provide usability, stability, and performance feedback.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ years in a relevant field or role.
  • Education: not explicitly specified in description.
  • Skills: Python (listed)

About Conductor Quantum

Quantum computers on silicon chips using AI.

Quantum computers will allow humanity to understand the world at its most fundamental level, enabling the acceleration of drug discovery and the development of new materials. Currently, quantum engineers spend days, sometimes weeks, manually getting their silicon chips to operational conditions to realize two qubits. A qubit is the information-carrying unit of a quantum computer, analogous to a bit in a classical computer. We need billions of qubits to make a useful quantum computer. Therefore, automation software will be vital to realizing this goal. Conductor Quantum will develop AI software to remove the human from the loop, enable the scaling of silicon quantum technology and build a silicon-based quantum computer.
