About the role

Senior Applications Engineer for Standard Bots, combining mechanical, electrical, and software skills to design, build, install, and support robotic automation solutions in customer environments. This role is hands-on, field-oriented, highly collaborative with sales, and involves travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • - Solution Design & Proof of Concept: Work with the sales team and customers to understand automation goals, production constraints, and integration requirements; design practical, buildable solutions around Standard Bots' hardware; build the proof of concept to validate before signing; develop application notes, sample code, and documentation.
  • - Field Installation & Integration: Travel to customer sites to install, program, wire, and commission robotic cells; own the integration from mechanical setup through software configuration; troubleshoot on-site until it works.
  • - Customer Training & Support: Train customer operators and technicians on hardware/software; support post-install as customers expand applications; be the technical resource.
  • - Trade Shows & Demos: Represent Standard Bots at industry events; build and run demos; develop demo systems.
  • - Internal Collaboration: Provide real-world integration feedback to hardware/software teams; assist in-house engineering with testing features and integrations.

Qualifications

  • - 6+ years hands-on experience in industrial automation fundamentals (PLC programming and ladder logic, pneumatics, DC power systems, robot programming, Python scripting).
  • - Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • - Customer-facing experience with ability to explain technical integrations to engineers and managers.
  • - Field-focused bias; hands-on willingness to build and deploy solutions in the field.
  • - Comfort with up to 50% domestic travel.
  • - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
