About the role

Join Upvest to help build the regulatory-backed private pension infrastructure in Germany (AVD) before Day 1 of launch. This internship focuses on supporting clients, day-to-day AVD operations, playbook development, error handling and reconciliation, and identifying process improvements in a hybrid Berlin role.

Responsibilities

  • Support our clients: help prepare clear, accurate answers and translate dense regulation into customer-friendly language.
  • Support day-to-day AVD operations: assist with contract registration with the ZfA, contribution management, annual bonus application (AZ01), and payment reconciliation.
  • Help build the playbooks: document workflows, create step-by-step guides and error catalogues, keep them current as rules and systems evolve.
  • Support error handling and reconciliation: address recurring ZfA error cases, verify payments and records, identify root causes to fix issues.
  • Spot what should be better: assess manual workarounds, suggest improvements and automation opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Fluent German communication skills (B2/C1) and comfortable working proficiency in English (hard requirement).
  • Structured and precise, with attention to detail in pension-related numbers.
  • Curious about rules and willing to read regulations to understand process rationale.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; able to ask good questions.
  • Confidence with spreadsheets and AI tooling.
  • Prior exposure to financial services, operations or regulated environment is a bonus but not required.
  • Available for a minimum of 6 months and based in Berlin.
