About the role

Senior Software Engineer to join Peregrine's Platform team, accelerating the company’s cloud footprint, improving performance and reliability, reducing infrastructure costs, strengthening security, and enhancing developer experience for platform users.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship initiatives to scale Peregrine's cloud footprint
  • Improve performance and reliability of the platform
  • Reduce infrastructure costs without sacrificing headroom
  • Strengthen security posture and meet compliance requirements
  • Make the platform more developer-friendly
  • Own moderately complex infrastructure problems from design to production
  • Balance multiple priorities with minimal day-to-day guidance
  • Mentor and influence other engineers on technical decisions
  • Stand up new regions and customer environments with minimal manual work
  • Build autoscaling and right-sizing systems to reduce cloud spend
  • Improve reliability and incident response for mission-critical services
  • Hardening platform security controls to meet compliance requirements
  • Develop paved-road tooling for product teams to deploy, observe, and debug services

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure at scale with ownership of platform or networking systems
  • Proficiency in Python or Go (or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with major public cloud platforms, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tooling
  • Track record of reducing cloud costs through architecture and tooling without sacrificing reliability
  • Security and compliance-oriented with strong cloud and network security practices
  • Strong focus on developer experience with tools, guardrails, and documentation
  • Experience operating under production load including on-call and incident response
  • Located in Washington, DC and able to work in the office
  • Active U.S. security clearance (or ability to obtain)
