About the role

Software Engineer II role on the International Accelerator Engineering team, focusing on full-stack development for Canada, the UK, and future international markets. Remote in the UK with Europe-wide team, contributing to Direct-to-Consumer products like the Affirm App, and scaling at product and organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Break down larger projects into individual tasks with team’s tech lead and manager; deliver in multiple phases and collaborate for timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ideate, articulate technical constraints, and assess risks and trade-offs.
  • Support operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call efforts.
  • Contribute to team community through growth activities such as participation in the interview process.

Qualifications

  • 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
  • Experience designing, developing and launching APIs at scale using Python or Kotlin.
  • Ability to transform simple problems into solutions interacting with multiple components; write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
  • Comfort with navigating a large codebase, debugging others' code, and providing feedback via code reviews.
  • Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
