About the role

Senior Platform Engineer to develop infrastructure, tooling, and pipelines for SandboxAQ’s Medical Device product, spanning embedded Linux field fleet to the cloud. Build systems that enable rapid, safe shipping of device, cloud, and data-science software, treating infrastructure as a product and making compliant paths the fast path.

Responsibilities

  • OTA & Kiosk Fleet Lifecycle: build, signing, rollout, rollback, per-device configuration for in-field Linux kiosk fleet; update and recovery mechanisms; operational tooling coordinating with cloud systems.
  • CI/CD & Release Promotion: own CI/CD, test-gated promotion, controlled approvals, and release traceability across cloud and device software; define deployment control plane that is boring, reversible, and auditable.
  • Observability & Infrastructure Quality: own operational quality bar for the platform; build tooling for observability, alerting, reliability, backup and recovery, auditability, and security controls.
  • AWS Infrastructure Support: operate the AWS and Terraform foundation ensuring production systems are reliable, secure, and reproducible.
  • Developer Self-Service: establish golden paths and self-service tools enabling engineers to deploy independently; advise on complex build or deployment issues.
  • Hands-on Software Engineering: design, build, test, and maintain real tooling and services to production standards.
  • Engineer How We Meet Regulation: automate regulatory requirements into tooling tied to delivery—traceability, SBOM, artifact signing, audit trails, and security across pipelines and devices.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: collaborate with Product, Clinical, Regulatory, and InfoSec to translate needs into platform work; support clinical studies and regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k) / De Novo).
  • Data Platform Enablement: support data-science platform needs—reproducible environments, scalable compute, and reliable model serving.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in public cloud platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering in AWS with Staff-level ownership of production CI/CD and release systems for complex, distributed systems handling sensitive data; strong software engineering in Python or Go
  • Experience operating Linux-based systems and fleets of networked/IoT devices, including OTA update strategies
  • Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD and release/promotion systems with test gating, approvals, and reversible deployments
  • Deep expertise in Terraform/Terragrunt, plus containerization (Docker; ECS/Fargate and/or Kubernetes)
  • Experience building observability and production reliability (Datadog/CloudWatch) for monitoring and alerting
