About the role

Genesis-World: Core Simulation Engine Engineer at Genesis AI. Build the software engineering backbone of Genesis-World to make a large, fast-moving simulation codebase reliable, maintainable, and frictionless. Core maintainer from day one, with shared stewardship of the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Make testing of a JIT-compiled engine scalable.
  • Make any bug reproducible. Dump and reload simulations bit-exactly, across machines, across backends, even when a single timestep of a batched simulation can max out VRAM. Turn any failing run into a standalone reproduction script, automatically.
  • Make autodiff first-class. Drive requirements on Quadrants and iterate with the compiler team until integration is solid.
  • Edit scenes at frozen time. Enable instant authoring without full builds.
  • Make the simulator extensible. Create first-class plugins for physics solvers and interactive viewer backends (including Nyx).
  • Give robots real actuation. Abstract motors and MIMO transmissions at the interface between users and the physics engine.
  • Make time a local variable. Allow independent stepping, adaptive timesteps, and per-solver rates.
  • Make scenes come alive with physics-triggered events.
  • Keep the core sharp through refactoring, stronger typing, reduced Python overhead on hot paths, serialization, telemetry, and replay.
  • Review issues/PRs with core team, assist users and contributors, and help adoption.

Qualifications

  • Strong Python engineering on large codebases (architecture, refactoring, typing, packaging, performance profiling).
  • Developer tooling, test infrastructure, or CI at scale.
  • Experience with JIT compilation, code generation, or GPU computing stacks to reason about compilation caching, kernel dispatch, and startup cost.
  • Ability to debug across Windows, Linux, macOS on x86 and arm64, with CUDA, AMD, and Apple Metal (potentially Intel XPU via Vulkan).
  • Open-source experience: triaging issues, reviewing PRs, community communication.
