About the role

Software Engineering PhD Intern position at Google in Poland (Warsaw or Kraków) for EMEA region. Intern will work on a specific project, contribute to software solutions, and engage in research-oriented development across Google’s tech stack. Duration 13–17 weeks, full-time, starting in May/June/July 2027. Includes theoretical and practical work with NLP, AI, data processing, and large-scale systems.

Responsibilities

  • Research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve on Google's product offering
  • Contribute to a wide variety of projects using natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies
  • Collaborate on scalability issues involving access to data and information
  • Utilise exposure to large-scale production software troubleshooting
  • Help maintain mission critical services

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region, and in your penultimate/final year of education
  • Experience working with data structures or algorithms
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Go, etc.)
  • Preferred: relevant internship/research experience with programming in C++, Java, Python, or Go
  • Preferred: research experience in algorithms, AI, compilers, databases, data mining, distributed systems, ML, networking, or systems
  • Preferred: experience with web app development, Unix/Linux, mobile development, distributed/parallel systems, NLP, information retrieval, security, etc.
  • Ability to complete a 13–17 week full-time internship in Poland starting May/June/July 2027
