About the role

PhD students in Israel participate part-time (2–4 days per week) for a 26-week internship starting early 2027, focusing on research and its translation into real-world Google products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research to develop solutions for real-world, large-scale problems.
  • Research, conceive, and develop software applications to extend and improve on Google's product offering.
  • Contribute to a wide variety of projects utilizing natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in Israel, and in your penultimate/final year of education.
  • Experience in one or more Research areas; Natural Language Understanding/Processing, Computer Vision, LLMs, Machine Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Data Mining, Machine Intelligence, AI/ML Algorithms, Deep Learning or Image Processing, multimodal, multilingual and reinforcement learning.
  • Experience and proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages: Java, C++, Python, or Go.
  • Experience with research from previous internships, full-time industry experience, personal projects, lab work, or published papers (being listed as author).
