About the role

Senior (potentially Staff level) Software Engineer to join the AI Workbench platform team, building distributed systems and data pipelines for Deep Physics Models across ML lifecycle in a highly infrastructure-heavy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build distributed systems, services, and APIs for high dimensional simulation data across the machine learning lifecycle, from data processing and model training to inference services
  • Own end-to-end work in the domain between AIWB platform team and infrastructure team, managing ambiguity and building relationships
  • Build tools enabling data scientists and engineers to create automated, robust pipelines for data ingestion and processing, powering active learning loops
  • Architect and integrate storage solutions, data warehouses, and data lakes for complex simulations, multimodal data, and deep learning workloads
  • Deploy and support services across multiple production environments (cloud, on-premises, air-gapped environments)
  • Define system architecture for new capabilities with trade-offs on performance, reliability, cost, and developer experience
  • Author and review Technical Decision Records and contribute to Technology Radar reviews
  • Mentor and develop engineers across the team, including early and mid-career
  • Remain hands-on and keep coding as part of the role
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders across engineering, delivery, and customer-facing teams

Qualifications

  • Strong Kubernetes experience, including CRDs, Operators, and tools like Helm or ArgoCD
  • Proficiency in Go and Python; Rust experience valued
  • Experience deploying and supporting services in multiple production environments
  • ML platform background or prior data science experience
  • Intellectual curiosity and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and organizational skills at senior or staff level or equivalent leadership experience
  • Comfort with ambiguity and startup-minded adaptability
  • Experience mentoring or developing other engineers
