About the role

Senior technical leadership role to define and lead long-term architecture and execution for a global platform; founding Principal Engineer for Xometry's India PDT, focusing on AI-driven development, architectural standards, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Set the standard for AI-native development across the org, coaching Staff and Senior engineers on integrating AI tooling into architecture, design, and delivery to drive measurable speed and quality gains.
  • Lead architectural design and technical direction for systems spanning multiple teams, ensuring extensibility, scalability, and enterprise-grade standards.
  • Introduce architectural patterns adopted as organizational standards beyond single projects.
  • Tackle complex challenges involving data gravity, security, and system coupling across teams and boundaries.
  • Exercise sound judgment selecting architectural approaches that scale with usage and team size.
  • Define code review and quality standards adopted across the engineering organization.
  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design reviews and architectural discussions.
  • Own strategic technical direction and multi-quarter roadmaps for the platform area.
  • Define reliability, security, and operational standards meeting enterprise-grade expectations.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact between the Bangalore team and Xometry's global engineering leadership.
  • Communicate technical strategy and tradeoffs clearly to engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Serve as a founding Principal Engineer for Xometry's India PDT, establishing strong engineering practices and building a high-performing team.
  • Set a high technical bar and mentor engineers across architecture, delivery, and execution as the team scales.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of leading complex, multi-quarter initiatives.
  • Deep technical expertise across Python (backend), React/TypeScript (frontend), and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Hands-on fluency with modern AI development tools (AI coding assistants, agentic dev tools, AI-assisted code review).
  • Ability to use AI tools to compress delivery timelines and coach others in adopting them.
  • Significant experience with system architecture, microservices design, and distributed systems across teams or organizational boundaries.
  • Track record of introducing architectural patterns adopted as organizational standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across geographies/time zones, with stakeholders ranging from junior ICs to executives.
