About the role

Backend Engineer to design, build, ship, and own end-to-end product features used by thousands of developers and hundreds of millions of end-users. Hands-on IC role focused on shipping customer-centric software at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, ship, and own end-to-end product features used by thousands of developers and hundreds of millions of end-users
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code and debug issues methodically
  • Mentor other engineers and raise the engineering bar through thoughtful feedback and leadership
  • Scope, prioritize, and drive rollout in partnership with Product, and deliver value even if it means cutting scope for faster impact
  • Collaborate across teams to understand customer needs and product impact, including direct customer interaction to understand usage and pain points
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to reliability and quality across the codebase
  • Join the on-call rotation and contribute to incident response and post-mortems
  • Familiarize with and improve code you didn't write, including systems at scale

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a backend engineer designing complex, fast-growing systems
  • Ability to write advanced SQL statements beyond basic SELECT and UPDATE
  • High bar for quality and ability to cut scope when needed while still delivering value
  • Customer-obsessed mindset and ability to advocate for the user
  • Builder mentality with ownership from problem scoping to production rollout to maintenance
  • Ability to quickly learn and improve unfamiliar codebases
  • Comfort coding alongside AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
  • Scrappy, biased toward shipping and iterating with speed
  • Clear communication in real-time and asynchronously in a fully remote environment
  • Experience shipping meaningful user-facing features to production, monitoring usage, and iterating based on feedback
  • Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code, debug methodically, and mentor others
  • Founder-like initiative: identify problems, propose improvements, and follow through quickly
