About the role

Senior Research Scientist to join the Open Ecosystem group, focusing on training fully open foundation models to accelerate scientific discovery, with emphasis on agentic training and multimodal data.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific leadership and conduct ground-breaking research in foundation model development for open AI systems.
  • Lead small teams and help drive Ai2's mission in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Oversee and implement software systems supporting Ai2’s research.
  • Author and present scientific papers and presentations for peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Develop collaborative and strategic relationships with academic, industrial, government, and standards organizations.

Qualifications

  • PhD level (or equivalent strong foundation) in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related domains.
  • Significant experience building and training modern foundation models, including developing training pipelines and curating high-quality training data.
  • Preference for expertise in agentic training, multimodal data, and applying AI to accelerate scientific discovery.
