About the role

Senior system software engineer to design and operate cloud-based scientific computing platform workflows for physics-based solvers, AI workloads, and visualization across domains such as aerospace, automotive, and bio-medical. Focus on distributed compute, data-intensive PaaS, and HPC-style optimization on CPUs/GPUs.

Responsibilities

  • Design services and take ownership of underlying cloud infrastructure for physics informed and data driven scientific workflows
  • Design novel algorithms and engage with operations to increase system performance across the stack (application code, DL frameworks, numerical solvers, microservices, APIs, heterogeneous accelerated computing)
  • Design, Build, Deploy and Operate scalable I/O infrastructure for checkpointing, data loading, pre & post processing of data
  • Optimize compute, storage and network architecture specific to physics & simulation driven applications

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related areas or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years experience building and operating distributed compute and data intensive platform as a service on cloud
  • Proven skill in a compiled language (Go, Rust, C++ or otherwise)
  • Strong foundational knowledge in Cloud Computing and virtualization (CPU, Memory, IO, resource pooling, elasticity)
  • Proven skills in Distributed Systems & Parallel Processing (topology abstraction, logical time, synchronization, deadlock detection, fault tolerance, consensus, parallel algorithms, MPI/NCCL, cluster scalability)
  • Hands-on debugging skills with processes, threads, deadlocks, scheduling, IPC, memory management, I/O
  • Strong algorithmic thinking & system design skills (recursion, graphs, large-scale distributed systems)
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with multiple teams
