About the role

Lead and manage electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems in Amazon Web Services data centers, focusing on preventative maintenance, incident response, and collaboration with Engineering Operations Technicians and vendors to ensure peak facility performance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues. Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC units, building monitoring systems).
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot facility issues within internal SLAs.
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and collaborate with Facility Manager to set team culture.
  • Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
  • May assist in building out new facilities and assist in projects to increase facility efficiency.
  • Work outside of normal business hours for routine maintenance and respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to manage capacity, safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff.
  • Establish building performance benchmarks, analyses, and reports on facility operations and maintenance.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic administrative tools for day-to-day tasks.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance, or 3+ years electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years mechanical facilities maintenance experience
  • Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings
  • 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
