About the role

Transportation Associates perform trailer moves, coordinate yard activities, conduct yard audits, complete driver training programs, and operate multiple vehicle types to support Amazon’s transportation network. Role involves working outdoors, adhering to safety policies, and potentially earning a CDL (depending on business need).

Responsibilities

  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and enforcing safety measures for all yard and vehicle operations.
  • Perform yard functions to ensure trailers arrive/depart on time and maintain workflow for buildings.
  • Be trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies related to those regulations.
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track working hours and breaks in compliance with policy and regulations; adhere to yard safety policies and traffic laws.
  • Support the business as a peer trainer or by working at nearby site locations within the area as needed.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload trucks using approved equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
  • Opportunity for CDL training and potential pay for CDL by Amazon based on business need.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license
  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Candidates must be 21 years or older
  • Work 40 hours/week with overtime as required
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds; able to stand/walk for up to 12 hours; able to push, pull, squat, bend, reach and ascend/descend stairs
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English.
