About the role

Head of Communications at Factory responsible for defining and driving how Factory is understood, owning the narrative engine, media relations, crisis management, internal communications, and executive visibility to support the shift to agent-native software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Define Factory's communications strategy in partnership with leadership, grounded in market and competitive insights.
  • Own the narrative engine: transform product milestones, customer outcomes, and company POV into breakthrough stories and campaigns.
  • Serve as primary spokesperson and media liaison, building relationships with top-tier press and earning coverage.
  • Run major announcements end to end and quarterback the narrative for product launches, funding, partnerships, and thought leadership.
  • Lead issues management and crisis communications with rapid-response infrastructure.
  • Grow owned audience and executive visibility across relevant channels, coaching leaders to communicate impact.
  • Enhance discoverability across search and AI answer engines; shape market presence in tools used to understand the market.
  • Own internal and employee communications to keep the company aligned during scale and support recruitment and momentum narratives.
  • Bring on people and agency partners as the work grows.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in communications at high-growth technology companies, including senior leadership roles.
  • Truly stellar written and verbal communication skills with strong editorial judgment.
  • Ability to translate complex, technical concepts into widely readable narratives.
  • Deep, hands-on media relations experience with an established press network.
  • Strong grasp of traditional and new media, how ideas spread, and AI/search dynamics.
  • Proven experience owning issues management and crisis communications in high-stakes moments.
  • Proficiency with modern communications, measurement, and analytics tools.
  • Comfort operating strategically and hands-on as a lean function, with scalable team-building.
  • High agency, low ego, bias to action.
  • Excellent judgment, epistemic humility, and curiosity about technology.
