About the role

Core maintainer role for Genesis-World, building the software engineering backbone of a fast, scalable, open-source physics-based simulation platform for robotics. Focus on infrastructure, tooling, APIs, and architecture to reduce friction for users and contributors across the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Make testing of a JIT-compiled engine scalable.
  • Make any bug reproducible by dump/reload across machines/backends with standalone reproduction scripts.
  • Make autodiff first-class, addressing memory usage, performance, and maintainability across engine and compiler (Quadrants).
  • Edit scenes at frozen time to enable instant iteration without full builds.
  • Make the simulator extensible with first-class plugins for solvers and backends, generalizing sensor integration.
  • Provide real actuation support: motors and MIMO transmissions at the interface between users and the physics engine.
  • Make time a local variable to enable per-scene speedups and independent environment stepping.
  • Make scenes come alive with physics-triggered events.
  • Keep the core sharp through refactoring, stronger typing, reduced Python overhead, serialization, telemetry, and replay.
  • Review issues/PRs, assist users/contributors, and help drive adoption.

Qualifications

  • Strong Python engineering on large codebases (architecture, refactoring, typing, packaging, performance profiling).
  • Experience with developer tooling, test infrastructure, or CI at scale.
  • Fluency with JIT compilation, code generation, or GPU computing stacks; able to reason about caching, kernel dispatch, and startup cost (interaction with Quadrants).
  • Experience debugging across Windows, Linux, macOS, x86 and arm64, with CUDA, AMD, and Apple Metal (potentially Vulkan/Intel XPU).
  • Open-source triaging, PR review, and community communication.
