About the role

Senior Software Engineer on the Detection AI, Core team focused on security and privacy within Google's Detection AI space, owning end-to-end workstreams, setting technical direction, and mentoring engineers in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.

Responsibilities

  • Scope out problems in detection and response space and enable the organizational strategy to move left in the detection pipeline.
  • Set technical direction, author comprehensive design documents, and lead design reviews for complex, multi-quarter features within the team.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional peers and sister SWE teams to resolve architectural dependencies and align project timelines.
  • Guide, mentor, and delegate tasks to adjacent junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative engineering culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
