About the role

Data Center Technician III in Google’s Hardware Operations, responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and server software for Google Cloud region infrastructure, with opportunities to lead small project teams and support data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and lead efforts/projects in the deployment, maintenance, and support of Google Cloud region (e.g., cloud data center) infrastructure.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolve escalated technical issues regarding affected equipment.
  • Help test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs. Configure and troubleshoot Operating System (OS) related issues on the server.
  • Resolve technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process) using different tools until final resolution, communicating with different stakeholders.
  • Work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with computer hardware and server hardware or troubleshooting/diagnosing.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and networking protocols.
  • Experience in project management and leadership, and collaborating and partnering with teams.
