About the role

Google Cloud BigQuery engineering role focusing on advancing the BigQuery engine for low-latency, high-throughput queries, with ownership of large-scale software solutions and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on projects.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
  • Improve BigQuery engine to remove bottlenecks for low latency queries, design solutions that are easy to maintain and extend.
  • Work with BigQuery and Dremel codebase, which is primarily C++ with some Java in data planes and Python for tests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including Java, C/C++ or Python.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 5 years of coding experience in C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
