About the role

Tax operations role focusing on German investment taxation processes, regulatory reporting, and customer tax exemptions within Upvest’s Investment API platform.

Responsibilities

  • Investment Tax Mechanics & Fund Processing: Daily KEST; Vorabpauschale lifecycle execution under InvStG.
  • Digital Dividend & Regulatory Reporting Transformation: MiKaDiv execution; lead data governance, validate ownership timelines, secure UUID transmission paths from BZSt; NEK reporting and exception workflows.
  • Customer Tax Exemptions & Account Adjustments: FSAk submission and controls; NV-Bescheinigungen validation and auditing; Loss Pot Management (Verlusttöpfe) and cross-border/marital transfers; Deceased Account Backward Correction (Erbfall) including retroactive corrections; Church Tax Automation (KiStAM) and Halbteilungsgrundsatz for joint accounts.
  • Tax Documentation & Core IT Collaboration: Jahressteuerbescheinigung generation; Product Tax Engine Architecture; write technical tax specifications for automated core banking logic.

Qualifications

  • Experience with German tax systems related to investments preferred
  • Familiarity with InvStG, KEST, Vorabpauschale, MiKaDiv, NV-Bescheinigungen, FSAk, KiStAM, Verlusttöpfe, Erbfall concepts is a plus
  • Strong analytical and governance skills
  • Ability to collaborate with Product and Tech Engineering teams
