About the role

Security Engineer role at PostHog focusing on building and operating security tooling, incident response, threat detection, and security culture to protect customer data in a high-growth, open-source environment.

Responsibilities

Triage and Tune: Own Wiz alerts, reduce noise, prioritize actionable findings.
Incident detection, response: Lead security incidents, coordinate responses, develop IR runbooks.
Build Observability: Create detection pipelines and improve network-based observability.
Threat Hunting: Proactively hunt for threats in AWS, define telemetry for
The VDP: Support Vulnerability Disclosure Program and evolve toward a bug bounty program.
Enable the Team: Provide threat modeling and secure design reviews to product squads.
Help build our security culture: Enable engineers and promote a security-as-enabler mindset.

Qualifications

3-5+ years of security engineering experience with a heavy focus on AWS (IAM, VPC logs, CloudTrail).
Experience with CSPM/CNAPP tools (e.g., Wiz, Prisma) and building trusted detection pipelines.
Prior incident response leadership and coordination across teams.
Ability to build security function from scratch with high autonomy.
Strong engineering skills and ability to read/write code.
Effective communication and a collaborative mindset to enable engineers.
