Systems Integrator
Octopus Energy· OEGEN Data, Tech & Transformation
Hybrid (London)Full-timePosted 1mo ago
About the role
Role focused on integrating third-party systems, internal apps and documentation into OEGEN's Databricks-based environment, while building data products and AI-enabled tools for fund management, asset management and finance teams. Emphasis on reuse of existing capabilities, practical guardrails, cost control, and productionising AI-enabled workflows in a hybrid, data-centric transformation program.
Responsibilities
- Integrate third-party systems, internal tools, SharePoint and Microsoft 365 into the Databricks environment via APIs and connectors.
- Build data products over connected data: well-modelled, documented, reusable datasets accessible via Excel, dashboards and natural-language querying.
- Design and ship internal applications and AI-enabled tools (Python, Streamlit, Databricks Apps, HTMX, Lakebase, FastAPI or similar) for fund management, asset management and finance teams.
- Prototype, evaluate and productionise new AI capabilities (document AI, retrieval, agentic workflows) and turn ideas into supported products.
- Adopt existing Group capabilities rather than building parallel solutions; develop a repeatable playbook for integrations and tool development.
- Set up practical guardrails inside Databricks and Unity Catalog (schema, workspace access, permissions, environment hygiene).
- Move cost management from reactive to proactive (tagging, budgets, alerting, usage monitoring) to attribute Databricks and AI spend accurately.
- Credential AI usage (managed keys, access) and provide patterns for embedding AI into tools.
- Standardise internal apps development (templates, authentication, deployment, documentation) and ensure long-term supportability.
- Consolidate ad-hoc scripts and no-code workflows into fewer, well-maintained integrations; automate repetitive tasks.
- Collaborate with non-technical teams to understand problems and translate them into buildable solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong systems integration experience with REST APIs, connectors and authentication flows.
- Track record of building and shipping data products or internal applications used by business.
- Solid Python and SQL skills for building, automation and data modelling.
- Hands-on experience with a cloud data platform in production (Databricks preferred): workspaces, catalogs, permissions and compute.
- Experience integrating AI into tools (LLM APIs, retrieval, agents) with practical judgment.
