About the role

Senior operator role responsible for turning a pod’s ambition into reliably delivered, high-quality work across samples, datasets, data products, and bespoke engagements, coordinating cross-functionally to optimize margins, roadmap delivery, and customer outcomes. Hybrid in SF or NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Own your pod’s margin performance and operating economics. Be accountable for understanding and improving the cost-to-deliver, gross margin, and financial health of the pod’s work. Track data orders and recognized revenue, challenge staffing and production decisions that erode margin, and provide the cost and delivery inputs that inform pricing decisions. Represent the pod’s commercial and operational performance in the weekly business review.
  • Bring the pod’s four-quarter roadmap to life. Partner with Product and Research to execute against the strategy and priority bets they have defined for the domain, translating them into an actionable delivery roadmap, mobilizing the right cross-functional teams, and ensuring launches and projects are delivered with the required quality, speed, and economics.
  • Manage and grow a team of Strategic Project Leads (SPLs) to ensure projects are delivered on time, and establish a culture of high performance.
  • Serve as the connective tissue between GTM and Delivery. Maintain a clear view of the commercial pipeline, ensure pre-sales teams have the support they need, PMM has what it needs, and speak confidently to delivery plans, capacity, risks, and tradeoffs across your portfolio.
  • Own the performance of the full project portfolio. Ensure every project, across samples, OTS datasets, proprietary data products, and bespoke engagements, is delivered on time, to high quality, and against its expected financial return.
  • Mobilize the right people at the right time. Bring together Research, Engineering, subject-matter experts, Delivery, and Expert AI Supply, negotiating for capacity and driving alignment across teams that do not report directly to you.
  • Build and optimize the pod’s workforce plan. Partner with heads of Delivery and Expert AI Supply to staff projects with the right expertise, deploy talent effectively, and plan capacity against demand.
  • Obsess over quality, personally. Analyze data to identify quality breakdowns and drive corrective actions.
  • Actively manage and improve margin. Challenge staffing models and cost drivers to deliver measurable margin improvements.
  • Turn recurring failures into systemic fixes. Address issues in operating model, tooling, or process rather than one-off project fixes.
  • Build the pod playbook. Establish rhythms, processes, roles, and best practices to repeat the model for future pods.
  • Share learnings across the broader organization. Systematically disseminate insights and best practices across pods.

Qualifications

  • Ownership of a P&L or a business unit
  • Real depth in a technical domain (software engineering, computer use and agents, or adjacent frontier area)
  • Track record of building rather than administering; startup/early-operator experience preferred
  • Commercial judgment with customers; able to conduct technical discovery and scope engagements
  • Comfort with ambiguity and working with peers who are not direct reports
  • Seniority with typically 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Prior people management experience (3+ years preferred)
