About the role

Senior Staff Software Engineer role focusing on Unified Traffic Engineering (UTE) within Google's AI and Infrastructure team, delivering large-scale networking software, traffic routing and load balancing across Google's global networks with potential to influence multiple teams and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on projects.
  • Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
  • Build next generation traffic engineering functionality. Design, implement and qualify new networking features, including software architecture evolution, new solver algorithms, network programming coordination/management, and availability, improving mechanisms. Work closely with other UTE team members, test engineers and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to ship our product releases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
  • Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
