About the role

Transportation Associates perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities, conduct yard audits, complete driver training programs, and operate multiple vehicle types to support Amazon’s transportation network.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and enforcing safety measures for all yard and vehicle operations.
  • Perform various functions within the yard to ensure trailers arrive/depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
  • Be trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies related to DOT requirements.
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks in compliance with Amazon policy and regulations; adhere to yard safety policies and traffic laws.
  • Support the business as needed by training peers or working at nearby site locations within the area.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
  • Opportunity for CDL training paid by Amazon; potential to drive Over-the-Road (OTR) and be regulated by DOT as needed.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license
  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Candidates must be 21 years or older
  • Able to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for shifts up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and ascend/descend stairs
  • Work 40 hours/week with overtime as required
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • English proficiency to understand and adhere to job requirements and safety guidelines
