About the role

Senior Community Engagement Manager to lead InCommunities initiatives for the AWS Data Center Community in the America Central region, based in Chicago or Columbus, OH. Strategic leadership role focusing on external relations, crisis management, community programs, and cross-functional collaboration to support AWS infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy development and bespoke execution of Community Engagement for major development projects
  • Lead a team of community engagement managers in the region
  • Design and execute InCommunites signature events and programs; provide vision for sustainable community engagement initiatives across the region
  • Communicate impact of InCommunities programs internally and externally; represent AWS Infrastructure publicly in meetings with internal and external stakeholders; utilize multiple communications channels
  • Serve as the region’s Issues leader; proactively address internal and external issues posing reputational risks; be the point of contact for community-centric issues and concerns
  • Support community assessment for new sites in the region; identify community-related risks and develop a mitigation plan
  • Capture data to demonstrate engagement impact on AWS Infrastructure, employees, and community; communicate values internally and externally
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, real estate, energy, water, sustainability, construction, legal, public policy, public relations) to deliver results
  • Be physically on-the-ground in locations when required

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of professional or military experience
  • 10+ years of public policy, government relations, community relations, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience supporting major infrastructure development projects
