About the role
AWS Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) responsible for testing and validation oversight of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in AWS data centers, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to ensure commissioning meets design, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Review design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manage third-party commissioning vendors for onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
- Own projects’ success by diving deep to resolve technical issues and addressing schedule/coordination demands onsite.
- Provide multi-discipline input into scheduling, test script development, designing, and planning of projects.
- Review component submittal packages, lead FWT, and perform system-level and integrated system testing.
- Continuously audit commissioning activities for environmental, quality, and safety compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive weekly status reports and lessons learned to improve the program.
- Coordinate across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams; manage commissioning vendors; document findings.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant discipline work experience
- High technical competency in mechanical or electrical or control systems used in critical infrastructure, with ability to learn other domains
- Ability to review design documentation (drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, sequences of operations) and provide feedback per Amazon standards
- Experience developing or reviewing commissioning documentation (test plans, scripts, reports) for accuracy with design requirements
