About the role

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. The role involves operating and improving the OTA and security feature rollout process for software updates to Leo Satellites, with hands-on responsibility for releases, rollout planning, deployment monitoring, issue triage, and ensuring safe updates across hardware variants.

Responsibilities

  • Execute OTA and Security Operation rollouts end-to-end, preparing rollout plans, configuring device targeting and eligibility rules, staging deployments, and monitoring progress through GA
  • Monitor fleet health during rollouts, tracking success/failure rates, device telemetry, and key health indicators, and escalating anomalies per established runbooks
  • Triage deployment failures and stalled updates, diagnosing root causes (connectivity issues, firmware incompatibilities, crash loops) and coordinating resolution with firmware and operations teams
  • Maintain and improve rollout runbooks, SOPs, checklists, and go/no-go decision criteria
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards and reports for rollout status, fleet coverage, and update adoption metrics
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks, scripting rollout preparation, health checks, and reporting to reduce manual toil and human error

Qualifications

  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
