About the role

Transportation Associates perform yard trailer moves, coordinate yard activities, conduct yard audits, complete driver training programs, and operate multiple vehicle types to support Amazon’s transportation network. The role involves safety adherence, yard operations support, and potential CDL/DQF certification depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations; follow and enforce safety measures for all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard.
  • Perform functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure all trailers arrive/depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
  • Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies and procedures of those regulations.
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track/report working hours and breaks in compliance with policy and regulations; adhere to safety policies and traffic laws.
  • Support the business as a peer trainer or by working at nearby site locations as needed.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license
  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Candidates must be 21 years or older
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds; stand and walk for shifts up to 12 hours; frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and ascend/descend stairs
  • Work 40 hours/week with overtime as required
  • Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
