About the role

Senior individual contributor role leading design and delivery of complex ML systems, architecting integrations across Xometry’s tech stack, and setting engineering standards for ML at scale. Own AI/ML architecture behind the DFM AI + IQE integration and data engineering for the digital thread connecting Xometry’s platform to partner ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with technical depth – Own the end-to-end lifecycle from requirements gathering through release, ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery across complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Own the Partner integration AI/ML plane – Architect and build the high-performance AI/ML layer of embedded DFM AI + IQE integration with Teamcenter and Designcenter, including real-time ML serving architecture, low-latency signal path, data contracts, MLOps, governance, and observability
  • Build for scale – Develop cloud-based production systems powering real-time endpoints and MLOps, integrated with broader systems and infrastructure
  • Solve ambiguous problems – Navigate complex, cross-domain technical challenges and deliver solutions that meet business and technical objectives
  • Set the Standard – Surface opportunities, own new processes, and develop multi-quarter roadmaps
  • Champion quality and security – Apply automated testing, parallel/distributed computing, and secure software development practices
  • Collaborate broadly – Partner with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders
  • Mentor and elevate – Guide other engineers through design/code reviews and mentorship
  • Stay current – Keep pace with ML/AI advances and bring new approaches/tools into practice

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (or equivalent)
  • 6-8 years of experience in machine learning engineering with a track record of owning/delivering complex ML systems in production
  • Deep expertise in ML/AI technologies (Gradient Boosting, Deep Learning, Generative AI frameworks) with backend scalability focus
  • Hands-on experience deploying real-time ML products at scale in cloud environments (AWS preferred) with auto-scaling, monitoring, and alerting
  • Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience with MLOps practices (model monitoring, drift detection, automated retraining/redeployment)
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions), TDD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
  • Experience profiling/optimizing ML deployments for latency/throughput
  • Ability to work independently on new/ambiguous assignments and communicate across teams
  • Experience with state-of-the-art modeling techniques (transformers, self-supervised pre-training, LLMs, generative AI)
  • Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native distributed systems
  • Manufacturing/supply chain/marketplace background is a plus
  • Location: Denver, CO (hybrid) and base salary range $200,000-$220,000 per year plus bonus
