About the role

Staff Cyber Resilience Engineer leading defense against ransomware, data loss, and destructive attacks. Owns recovery architecture, IaC standards, and end-to-end recovery testing in AWS, with a focus on immutable recovery environments and scalable incident recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the Isolated Recovery Environment in AWS with immutable vaults
  • Threat model cloud environment against IAM privilege escalation, backup deletion, ransomware persistence, and cross-account lateral movement
  • Validate and improve backup configurations for recoverability
  • Lead transition to 100% Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for all assets
  • Build automated recovery workflows to tear down compromised environments and bootstrap clean ones
  • Write, test, and maintain executable recovery playbooks with APIs/CLI
  • Develop automated scripts (Python or Go) to smoke test recovered data and validate integrity
  • Lead regular hands-on recovery drills and manage after-action improvements
  • Act as resilience authority, shaping high-availability decisions and embedding recoverability in design review
  • Partner with SRE on multi-region deployments and high-availability design
  • Champion IaC and immutable infrastructure practices across teams

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in complex cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) with at least 3 years in AWS
  • EKS/Kubernetes experience is a strong plus
  • Strong Terraform skills with ability to modularize environments
  • Hands-on familiarity with Secure Vault pattern in a restricted AWS account
  • Advanced shell scripting and proficiency in Python or Go
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (Scalr, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to engineer and automate end-to-end restoration workflows
