About the role

Staff Software Engineer to join Xometry's Core Platform team, focusing on architectural evolution of flagship enterprise partnerships and re-architecting core application services to live natively within partner ecosystems, enabling zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement within enterprise design environments. Hybrid role based in North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA (3 days/week).

Responsibilities

  • Design high-performance solutions that extend beyond a single org and establish standards for embedding Xometry-AI into external PLM environments.
  • Advance the architectural framework to be extensible, scalable, and compliant with enterprise SLIs/SLOs.
  • Lead integration of production ML pipelines into the application layer with optimized model serving and real-time geometry analysis.
  • Mentor engineers on AI tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
  • Solve data gravity and security challenges, establishing formal networks between partner and Xometry teams and implementing ring-fenced data governance.
  • Lead strategic direction and execution of core integration, combining DFM and IQE AI engines for a competitive edge.
  • Facilitate technical discourse across the organization and guide risk/reward discussions with senior leadership.
  • Define reliability and security standards for enterprise-grade deployments (partner-hosted or Xometry-hosted) with multi-tenant management.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, with a history of scaling complex platforms.
  • Expert-level mastery of Python, AWS infrastructure, and modern frontend frameworks (React/NextJS) for complex enterprise apps.
  • Proven systems architect with experience shaping technical direction across multiple teams.
  • Track record of executing 6-12 month strategic initiatives to production.
  • Excellent communication to influence senior leadership and external partners on technical strategy.
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
